Industry changes have led to the emergence of novel periodontal practice models beyond the traditional referral-based practice approach. One such unique model involves the acquisition of restorative “feeder” practices that sometimes pre-existed as independent referring offices. This model presents some interesting solutions for challenges facing periodontists today. In this session, we will explore this approach, its benefits, and the many challenges that a periodontist might encounter.
Educational Objectives:
• Explore the economic and industry drivers that led to the evolution of this approach.
• Comprehend the challenges facing a periodontist who purchases referral GP practices.
• Explore the future and how this model might solve the position of the periodontist as the leader of an interdisciplinary team under the ownership of the periodontist.
• Discuss the risks associated with an ownership model and how the outside dental community interacts with the periodontist owner.
This session is sponsored by Intiveo.
