The introduction of digital technology in the last two decades has significantly impacted the accuracy and precision of implant placement. The ultimate digital approach is represented by robotic assisted surgery. Robotic assisted surgery has been applied to several areas of medicine and now this technology has landed in dentistry. The goal of this presentation is to review the state of the art of the digital approaches in implant dentistry with particular attention to robotic assisted surgery. Indication pros and cons of this novel approach will be discussed, in addition to future developments and directions.
Educational Objectives:
• Review accuracy for implant placement and how accuracy is impacted by static and dynamic/robotic navigation.
• Comprehend the application of robotic navigation to implant placements and the difference from static and dynamic navigation.
• Present the current protocols available for robotic navigation
• Present the limitations and possible issues with the use of the robot.
